Cloth Diaper Stash Plan * Updated

I've been working on my registry (first shower is in about 1 1/2 months) and here's what I have for my planned cloth diaper stash:

General:
For Newborn:
For Older Infant:
For Nighttime:

For Short Travel/With a Babysitter, etc:
For Longer Travel (like my brother's wedding in Hawaii where we don't want to bring back a bunch of poopy or wet diapers and won't be able to wash really and don't have to deal with classic disposable diapers)
I'm planning on washing every  1 1/2 to 2 days.  Do the numbers of everything (especially prefolds and covers) seem reasonable?  Any other recommendations?

I did the registry on Amazon, but I've put quite a bit from Green Mountain Diapers and Cotton Babies since Amazon has a Universal Registry Button that allows you to add items to your registry from other websites.

  1. My sister has been cloth diapering for awhile. I'm learning from her. I'm not sure, but I think you may want a few more of the nighttime ones. Just incase. All babies are different but I know my sister's babies (both boys) were huge night wetters. And, from what I'm hearing, little boys tend to leak a little more.

  3. I was glad to read this post! I've always been interested in cloth diapering, but I'm very intimidated by it. I think the all-in-ones is adventurous as I will get! I look forward to hearing how you like all the different kinds.

  4. This is a GREAT plan!!!! I love it!!! I just did a post on cloth diapers. I LOVE the flip covers. Love them!!! I only have 2 hemp liners for night time and that works fine. I do laundry every other day- but not Sundays! :) Also a friend gave me the Bummies fleece liners and that is SOOOOO nice- espeically for night time. You lay it on top of the prefold and it wicks away the moisture and helps them feel dry. Love love love this.

A friend also gave me the bummies bag that just hangs on the door knob. IT DOESN'T CLOSE. I thought this sounded stinky and NUTS, but it actually works better than the diaper pail for me!!! It's like the smell gets aired out- so you don't get knocked over by it when you go to use the bag.

AND I ordered the bumGenius flannel wipes and they work GREAT. Washcloths never occurred to me! :)

  5. looks good. we love traveling with flips on car rides. we haven't done it on the plane. We always take way too much stuff so I opt for Huggies. I do suggest you have some back up disopable newborn diapers ready to go for the first few days after you get home from the hospital. you won't know which way is up and trying to cd was the hardest thing. My milk was in. I was trying to figure out breastfeeding and when I could sleep. CD was just too overwhelimg for me at that time.

  6. I've been hearing a lot about these flip covers. Might have to look into them!

I LOVE my GMD prefolds, and my little beetles covers. I also like Thirsties covers and Bummis Super brites. We do the same thing as Lauren with the bag - hang it on a hook on the laundry room door. Works great!

  7. Wow, good for you with the cloth diapers! I really feel totally intimidated by the whole cloth diapering thing and even lost when I read about all the choices!! But they certainly look cute, are economical in the long run and help save the planet! You go girl! :)

  9. Did you already order these? I wanted to let you know that I've found 6 flip covers to be the right amount for us. With this I can do wash 3 times a week without running out. Also- just wanted to let you know that I LOVE my econobum prefolds. They're the same ply all the way through (instead of 4-8-4, they're 6-6-6...oh dear, just saw what that looks like!)) This way you can fold them either direction to fit a smaller diaper or longer diaper. Love love love my flip covers!
