On a somewhat related topic

I think I may eventually need to go back to school to study biomedical science (I could hopefully do a masters or PhD program) because other than homeschooling, one of the things I'd really like to do is to actually be involved in the research into infertility (as a researcher not a participant).  If only I'd know this 8-10 years ago in college before I started my graduate work (which I didn't end up finishing) in developmental psychology (which I did love, I just couldn't stand the writing part and a couple other things).  Another thing I'd like to do if I went back to school is statistics, which I did really well in during graduate school.  I want to figure out what I'm going to do if I can't stay home or be a nanny.

  1. I totally agree with you! Fertility fascinates me and all that is attached to it. :)

I'm banking on you being a stay at home mom though! Let's get that pelvis cleaned out and those hormones rolling and you are well on your way!

  2. I think that would be awesome to have an ethical person researching infertility. :) Like Sew said, hopefully your next career will be in motherhood!!

  3. Biomedical science was one of the programs that I applied to when I went to university. I thought I was going to be a doctor, but obviously that didn't work out!!!

I would love the chance to go back to school! It's too bad that I'm so used to my lifestyle that I don't know if I could give up the money!

I think that it would be awesome to have someone with your experience researching IF, but I do have to agree with the others, I think that mommyhood sounds like a pretty good career too!

  4. I think the mommy train will come, but it is exciting to think about going back to school. I would at least look into it just to see.

I sometimes think you are too young at 20-22 to decide what you want to do for the rest of your life. I went to school for 7 years and loved my area in "theory" but there was too much about it that made me miserable.

Good luck! I'm anxious to see what you find out.

  5. Statistics huh? That class literally knocked me down when I was in college. Ugh! I was miserable...that is good that you are considering some classes while you wait. That is what I did and couldn't be happier! It's definitely an area that gave me some hope when I felt so hopeless. It's good to have options...good luck with it all and I'm on board with the rest of the ladies...once you have that 2nd surgery..things will be looking up! Blessings.

  6. Check out the IIRRM. You can google it. It is the research arm of NaPro. Dr. Joe Stanford is a great guy and I would think that if you emailed him, he would give you some good advice. :)

  7. Yes, we need good, ethical researchers out there making progress in infertility study. There is still so much to learn. Maybe you can do your research from home as a side job while taking care of baby blondie!

  8. I think it's great that you are interested in homeschooling. I too, was interested, even before I had my son. Now, I can't WAIT until he is old enough to start learning to read. I've done lots of research on it and hope to go the classical route. I'm just nervous that it won't be good for him if we aren't able to have anymore children. I always picture sibling interaction as part of the homeschool perks.
