Cycle Review

I finally had my cycle review with PPVI just a little while ago (I'm on CD 5).  Dr. H wants D and I to do cyclical antibiotics for the next 7 cycles.  I'll start this cycle since I rarely peak before CD 16.  They will usually be CD 1-10.  Does anyone have a recommendation on probiotics?

I guess I never mentioned that Dr. H. decided to hold off trying PIO until seeing if there is some improvement from the antibiotics, so I haven't done PIO at all yet.  Hopefully I won't have any bleeding this cycle, but we'll have to see.  My progesterone was 31 and my estrogen was 18.4.  The progesterone is about average for me, but the estrogen is lower than what I've had previously.  Dr. H says the levels are good though.

The one thing that I didn't get any answers on yet was my P+3 u/s.  They do have the disk, but the PPVI u/s techs haven't looked at it and done their report yet.  I asked that they call me once they have the results.

I told D yesterday that I thought that we should continue treatment only until my 31st birthday in October 2011 at which time I'll be about 18 months/cycle out from surgery and we'll have been TTC for over 4 years, and D agreed.  At that time we'll start discussing, looking into, and saving for adoption.  We haven't ever had a serious discussion of adoption, so I wanted D to start thinking about it so that if we get to October 2011 without conceiving we can have that discussion.  We won't TTA after that time, but unless something changes diagnosis-wise, etc we won't be as actively trying.

  1. Hopefully those antibiotics will help!! I will say an extra prayer.

I started taking a probiotic after surgery b/c I was on so many meds. I take acidophilus (sp?) and the brand is Florajen but I think you can get any brand.

I never thought I had a digestive/regularity problem, and I didn't notice a drastic difference right away, but boy do I notice now if I forget to take it! My tummy is just happier in general, the whole digestive process just seems to go better when I take it. I am a probiotic believer!

  2. Antibiotics did wonders for my TEBB! I hope they help you with your bleeding too!

As for probiotics I'm take Ultra Flora Plus by Metagenics. I take it twice a day and it has done wonders for my overall health. When I was on the heavy duty antibiotics (when I had the pelvic abscess) my naturopath put me on a stronger probiotic. It was made by Genestra and it had to be stored in the fridge. The only drawback was that it was expensive ($50CDN) for a week supply.

  3. I was told to take probiotics too. I've taken a few that I recently bought but I am horrible about remembering them since they are stored in the fridge. I got mine from the GN.C store. They're good..tastes like strawberry. If I get good at taking them...I'll let you know how they work!

I think others have taken antibiotics in the blog world and it has helped them.

I think it's hard to put dates on TTC'ing...when the time comes to discuss adoption or other options....you will know. Lord willing, you won't have to worry about a plan.b.! Praying!

  5. I swear my system doesn't work without probiotics. I hope it makes you feel better, too.

Yeah, I've flown past my "TTC deadline" and am stil knee-deep in it. I don't think it's a bad thing to have a plan like that though.

  6. I haven't bought anything special for probiotics, just anything over the counter. If you have to refrigerate it or it is the "new" way of being able to stay live past the stomach acid, that is the important part. What abx are you going on? I was on doxy and biaxin. I hope this is your answer, as it was mine! I know you have been discouraged with all this bleeding post surgery. Thinking about and praying for you!

  7. I use either BioKult probiotic or Klaire Labs Ther-Biotic complete. So far, so good for both of them :).

I think it's great to have a timeline - it makes you feel like there is some endpoint - and especially when adoption follows next, some light at the end of this dark tunnel as well.

  8. I take Lactobacillus GG. It's supposed to better survive the stomach acid to make it through to the intenstines where it can do some good. I started that when doing Amoxicillin for CM.

  9. I have read in several places sources that a round of antibiotics can, indeed, be a very smart thing for both spouses to do! So good for you! I don't have any tips about the digestive issue, this is one area of my health that I have never had a problem with. But, I bought little cans of prune juice (for my baby) and now and then whip one out and drink it down. Prunes are just such good food! And, you feel like you are getting your fruit quota for the day in. I admire your plan for TTC, it sounds like you and your husband are on the same page. Please know, my prayers are with you, today and everyday.

  10. Praying for you and your cycles. And I will pray that the Holy Spirit guides you and your husband as you consider adoption. :)

  11. "TTA" took me a minute, so far is it from my mind. Hoping so much that those antibiotics will help!

And I like your long-term plan. That gives you time to make all your decisions thoroughly and responsibly - and a time to start that much-needed savings account.

  12. Is it bad that I am excited about the possibility of adoption??! :) I am totally praying you get pg and have all the babies your heart desires of course! But if God is leading you to adoption...well, you will become one of the few to know what a complete joy it is!!! :)

I love that you have a time line in mind...I think we are going to do that, too...give ourselves 18 months or so after surgery then call it quits. Now I just have to schedule the surgery sometime....
