Beta #2, Bras and more

I got my second beta drawn this morning, P+17, and it was 1104.  That's almost double and the draws were less than 48 hours apart so I'm feeling good about it.  The doubling time, according to this handy beta doubling calculator, was 43.22 hours, which is about what is expected.  I also had them run the ob panel now so that I don't have to get any extra blood draws, since I've already had 3 blood draws in the last 10 days and  I'm going to be getting blood draws every two weeks.   Last night I got my first PIO shot.   The mom that I nanny for taught D how to give the shot (I have been so lucky with my nanny jobs).  D did really well, and it didn't hurt until later.

I'm feeling pretty good.  I have to eat pretty much constantly, but it's keeping the nausea at bay.  I did stand up too quickly earlier and I got dizzy.  I feel a bit bloated too.  I think the fatigue is starting to kick in too.

Like I mentioned in an earlier post, I had to buy a new bra on Saturday since I manage to leave mine at home.  I'm concerned that this bra will not fit very long (I of course went and got an expensive VS bra since they actually carry my size).  The bra was snug when I bought it and it's feeling even more now.  About long was it before any of you ladies had to get a new bra and how many have you gone through?  Any other bra advice?

D was reading some of my blog yesterday and was asking about various acronyms.  He was also asking about betas and their doubling.  He's be reading the book I got him and has learned quite a bit already.

Does anyone need a bottle (it's opened) of sustained release B6?  I just bought a new bottle less than a week ago and I'm not going to be taking it for quite a while.

I'm going to post my meds, etc. I was on this cycle tomorrow.

I'm probably going to take a commenting break for a little while.  I'm still reading, but really can't pull anything together to say.  I'm still out here praying for all of you.

  1. I definitely NEED a new bra, but I'm holding out until I'm busting at the seams!! I probably could have bought one 6-7 weeks in...I'm now at 10 weeks and I'm going to have to throw in the towel here pretty quick! Yeah for new bras and morning sickness!!

  2. I didn't buy new bras until about a month ago (so starting my third trimester) but I totally should have done it earlier. Also, I was told to wear a sleep bra starting right away to prevent the ever-dreaded "sagging" (which I already have) and to keep the ligaments firm. I found some really comfortable wireless bras at JC.Penny by "Duo maternity". And I'm very "blessed" up top, so don't be afraid to go wireless. They're awesome! Good luck and GREAT numbers!

  3. I am tiny to begin with. My bra has been tight since I began taking medication in the cycle during which I got pregnant. It's getting to the point where I am conisdering getting a new bra, but I hardly know where to start (13 weeks).

  4. I survived on ice water with fresh-cut lemon slices (in a Nalgene for ease of transport) and Preggie Drops for the first 9 weeks to combat the nausea. And, as gross as it sounds, I also devoured fast food (I think the grease helped with the nausea, too). Definitely get a bra or two in your new larger size. From what I've heard two or three bra size changes are pretty normal throughout.

    Great doubling, too! :)

  6. My midwife said to not get a bra until about 27 weeks, because that's when they'll be the size they're gonna be.

Which is not true, because they grow exponentially when the milk comes in.

    :)

I got Gillian O Malley nursing tanks from Target for $15 and they are AWESOME. I live in them.

  8. Went up a bra size about 5 weeks ago (14 weeks..) and am ready to head to the next letter in the alphabet already (two letters.. ah!) I Recommend something cheap but comfortable, so if you have to change sizes frequently it doesn't break the bank..

And thank God your wait is over....have you thought about what you are going to call your blog when the baby is born? hehehe...waiting for baby blondie #2? or no longer waiting and enjoying baby blondie? Enjoy!

  10. Great numbers! I have varied in size a lot over the years so I just pulled out an old one when mine got tight and haven't had to go up anymore so one size up in 26 weeks, but I don't recall when it got tight. Maybe 10 weeks or earlier? It seems to vary a lot though for what I have heard. I mean, I gained 14lb in one trimeester and others that is most of what they gain the whole time, lol. Anyway, the eating lots to keep nausea away is totally normal and the best plan. So glad dh has already got the hang of the shots-go dh!

  12. Yippee!! Hmmmm, I usually buy nursing bras when I get bigger "there" so that I don't have to buy two sets of bras (regular and nursing). I wear the nursing bras from about the second trimester on. And after, of course.

  14. I'm still wearing my regular bras at 31 weeks. I could go up a size, but I want to hold out until my milk comes in. I bought a few nursing camisoles from Target to tide me over if my regular bras become too uncomfortable. I'd recommend them. Quite comfortable, and you can wear them alone or under your shirt.
